ISCC-PEG

Why is genomics so important for nurses? Genomics is a foundational life science on which nursing is built!

The Inter-Society Coordinating Committee for Practitioner Education in Genomics (ISCC-PEG) is an organization supported by the National Institutes of Health National Human Genome Research Institute (NIH-NHGRI) to enhance genomic literacy among healthcare providers and to improve integration of genomics into routine care and education. A key aim of this organization is to identify educational needs, share best practices, and develop potential solutions to embed genomics into healthcare provider education.

Take a peek at the published Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for entry-level nurses, nurse practitioners, and nurse educators, which provide insights into the importance of genomics for each group. Extended commentaries from genomic nurse experts address some key questions from the FAQs and can be viewed here.
